A place where devotion unto Lord Krishna can be found.

Today is Buddha Poornima.

Among the Dasavatara, Sri Buddha is the ninth avatara.

Additionally, Sri Buddha is the twenty-fourth lila-avatara.

In Chapters 17-18 of the 3rd Section of Vishnu Purana, Buddha has been designated as �Mayamoha�. Once, while bathing in the waters of the Yamuna, Akrura was astonished to see Krishna-Balarama within the river. Coming out, he saw Them seated in a chariot as They had been before appearing in the water. Again he immersed himself in the water, and saw the yellow-clad four-handed Vasudeva Sri Krishna along with His associates, graciously seated on the lap of the thousand-hooded Sri Anantadeva while being worshiped by Brahma and other demigods. At that time, he prayed to the Lord in the following manner:

SB 10.40.22

namo buddhaya suddhaya

daitya-danava-mohine 

mleccha-praya-ksatra-hantre

namas te kalki-rupine 

 

Obeisances to Your form as the faultless Lord Buddha, who will bewilder the Daityas and Danavas, and to Lord Kalki, the annihilator of the meat-eaters posing as kings.

gautamascarkabandhusca

 mayadevisutasca sah

All eighteen names of Buddha from �sarvajna� (omniscient) to �sakyamuni�, refer to Vishnu-avatara Buddha. Therefore, �Sugata� clearly refers only to Vishnu-avatara Buddha.

Currently the place is known as Buddha Gaya is referred as Kikata Pradesa:

  Srimad-Bhagavatam .

(Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.3.24)

Then, in the beginning of Kaliyuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Añjanā, in the province of Gayā, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist.

YAMA DHARMA RAJA’S JUDGEMENT

Once upon a time a king had a practice of feeding Brahmans  .  While a Brahamins  were standing   for a good meals , It so happened a An eagle was for carrying his prey ,a dead snake in the sky .  The left over poison from snakes mouth dropped in the food of a Brahmin ,he immediately died after consuming the food.

Now Who is responsible for Killing  the Brahmna?

And Who should be responsible for the this particular sin while doing karma

  1. Eagle:   Eagle was doing karma of eating what is ordained.
  2. Snake :  Snake was dead. Sanke is not responsible for  the lava excretion.
  3. King :  King was pious and was doing social service. He had noble intention . He has fed thousands of  Brahmnas .

Chitra Guptha Got confused and Yams Dharma Raja was also in fix . So This judgement was reserved .

After some time a poor Brahmin  was approaching the Palace  of  the king. He could not find the way.   He asked the wayto a young woman  .  She guided him and also cautioned him and said “This King Kills Brahmnas”.

Now it was decided in the court That the sin of kiilling the Brahmin Should go to the lady who guided and cautioned.

Moral  :    If we blame any body We must be doubly careful, Without proper insight ,inquiry One should not blame .

Friendship day . True friendship is a blessing.

Krishna has demonstrated through his pastimes  that friendship is an important factor.

This fist leela  was Makan chori . Every gopi was upset and would complain but was happymakhanchor1v1

when her house was ransacked .

Once  Krishna was having food with his friends ,a picnic in the forest  with out any discrimination of cast creed  . The essence was friendship.vana bhojana

Once Lord Bramha decided to play a prank on Sri Krishna and hid all his friends and cows in a cave. Unable to find any of them Krishna took the form of all of them and returned to Vrindavan. Baffled by this, when Lord Brahma reached Vrindavan all he could see was Krishna, in each and everyone and realized his mistake of testing Shri Krishna. brahma-prayer

Once, Krishna and his friends went deep into the jungle with their cows. They were so busy in their games that they did not realize a fire broke into the forest, all around them. Everybody was petrified and pleaded Krishna to help them. Krishna asked them all to close their eyes and not to open them until he asked them to do so. While everybody’s eyes were closed Krishna swallowed all the fire and hence protected his friends and cow.

One day, his friends came crying for help. They told him that they wanted to enter the beautiful forest of Talavana, which was captured by the ass demon Dhenukasura and his friends.Krishna and BalRama helped their friends again

Once, Krishna and his friends went deep into the jungle with their cows. They were so busy in their games that they did not realize a fire broke into the forest, all around them. Everybody was petrified and pleaded Krishna to help them. Krishna asked them all to close their eyes and not to open them until he asked them to do so. While everybody’s eyes were closed Krishna swallowed all the fire and hence protected his friends and cows.

Our Lord has performed lot of leelas  . Krishna considers all his devotees  as his friends and has extended his hands for help.

How can we forget Sudhma his Gurkul friend?

Sudama and Krishna were childhood friends. They first met at the ashram of Guru Sandipani. After few years, the boys completed their studies and went apart. Krishna married Rukmini and ruled Dwaraka. Sudama, in the meantime, married a poor brahman girl. Sudama led a life of poverty as he was not attached to any wordly possessions. His wife was too good who as well did not crave for luxuries.

Sudama’s wife borrowed some poha from a neighbour and wrapped it in a clean rag and gave it to Sudama. Later, he left for Dwaraka. Krishna was overjoyed after seeing Sudama. He made him sit down and washed his feet. Rukmini fanned him gently. Sudama was overhelmed by the love that krishna showered on him. He hesitated to give Krishna the poha thinking it was a little gift to someone like him. But Krishna read his mind and snatched it from his hand. “Poha, my favourite dish” said Krishna and ate a handful greedily. Before, he could take a second handful, Rukmini stopped him saying “One mouthful will give him all that he needs, my Lord”.  Being the goddess of wealth, she was responsible for its distribution.

Next morning, Sudama left Dwaraka. His heart was full, though he did not ask for anything from Krishna. As he approached his house, he saw a grand mansion. His wife and children came out of it wearing jewels and fine clothes. Then he understood Rukmini’s words. The moral of the story is  : True friendship is a blessing.

Do not succumb to sensual pleasures.

Our main purpose is to reach lord’s feet. These sensual pleasures deviate us from this path.

Kulashekhara ashwar has suggested the exact way to engage our senses in his Mukunda Mala.( Garland for  mukunda )

The First Appeal Goes to Sri Kulasekharar’s tongue – He asks It to Praise Lord Kesavan. The Name Kesava. Let us train our tounge to take lords’s name Krishna Rama Govinda. So that it is not engage in eating delicacies or abusing people and thus involved in karma bandhana

    Have faith in the teachings of AchAryAs.

The next instruction is to have faith the teaching of our acharyas.

Faith is the vehicle which is needed in the path of devotion. We need a acharyan ,a guru who shall guide us based on religious scriptures which he has received from his Acharya.

We do not just come or jump from the sky .  We have a family that family has a clan that clan follows a religious sect ,that religious sect as an acharya,that acharya is estabilished in an achraya parmpara.

The teachings are parampara proktham and parampara praptham.

We find so many gurus who give us instant remedies or guarantee happiness. they do not have disciplic succession.

The established cultural heritage and lineage make us to have staunch faith in the teachings of acharyas.

our Madhura Kavi azhavar sang only 10 pasurams (Kannanin chiruthambhu) for his acharyan Nammashwar. He had strong faith in his acharyan   .

Strong faith in the teachings leads to Nishchalabhakthi and further papatti and attainment of lords feet.Thus by the grace of our acharyan we get rid of this birth and death cycle.

Serve all devotees without regard to their status.

Our acharyan wants us to serve all devotees.  We have to be considerate and be helpful to the devotees who are in search of the ultimate.  Lord Krishna has said that there are may types of devotion and he responds to them . Let us respect the devotees acknowledged by the Lord him self.chapter 4 Verse 11

 ye yatha mam prapadyante tams tathaiva bhajamy aham mama vartmanuvartante manusyah partha sarvasah

भावार्थ : हे अर्जुन! जो भक्त मुझे जिस प्रकार भजते हैं, मैं भी उनको उसी प्रकार भजता हूँ क्योंकि सभी मनुष्य सब प्रकार से मेरे ही मार्ग का अनुसरण करते हैं॥11॥

  1. Let us not question them and try to verify their credentials.
  2. Let us not humiliate them.
  3. Let us not put them to test
  4. God protects his devotees .
  5. Let us not force them  to follow a particular religious path.
  6. God paves the way and path to his devotees.
  7. Let us respect them ,provide them with prasadam and other basic amenities as far as possible.

Devotees have only one status.

Devotees are in search of god. They would have surrendered to the God or might be in the process.  Let us not categorize them  as rich,poor,learned ,ignorant etc.
